Small Backyard Waterfall Charlotte, NC

In Spring of 2023 the Pondscapes of Charlotte crew built a pondless waterfall in a quiet backyard close to uptown Charlotte. The customer had a rather large landscaped backyard that stretched about 50 yards to the end of the property. Coming off of the back of the house was a paver patio that had a seating area to rest after a long day at work. The backyard had no pond but mostly grass that stretched back to the fence. On the sides of the yard were nice planting areas that made the backyard feel cozy and well taken of. It had one small fountain feature that made a small amount of noise but it was kinda far back in the yard and the customer wanted more.

Before the start of the installation we met with the client and went over what he was looking to add in his backyard. He wanted something that was low maintenance and easy to take care of. We discussed where the best place in the yard would be to put the waterfall and decided that up close to the patio with the waterfall facing the house would be the best option. This way he could enjoy the sites and sound of the waterfall while sitting on his back patio as well as being able to get a view from inside the house. Originally he was thinking about installing the water feature with a friend but after further consideration he decided to hire a professional to install the pondless waterfall and he would do the suit of the water planting later once the project was complete.

We hand picked the boulders from the stone yard and wanted to find the largest boulders that we could move by hand to frame the waterfalls. We brought the stone from the front yard to the back yard using a ball cart. It was a challenge to get the large stones to the backyard. We also had to bring in some dirt to build the berm behind the waterfall up to elevation.

We were able to complete the water feature in 2 days! The client was extremely happy with the results and says he will enjoy spending time in his backyard next to his waterfall. He is an avid gardener so he will also add out of the water plants around the water feature this Spring.

Overall the Pondscapes of Charlotte crew had a great time building this water feature. We look forward to returning this water feature in the future to see how the plants grow in.
