The Vision
This Waxhaw homeowner in Hunter Oaks had a dull corner in their backyard where water pooled during heavy rain. They wanted to transform the problem area into a serene, natural focal point designed for low maintenance and year-round enjoyment without the upkeep of a traditional pond.
The Transformation
We created a pondless waterfall using carefully placed boulders, smooth river rocks, and aquatic plants to mimic a mountain stream’s natural flow. The design captures excess water that pools in the area, with an overflow connected to the existing drainage system. An underground basin recirculates the water, eliminating the maintenance of a pond while still providing the sights and sounds of a waterfall. The soothing sounds drown out noise from the nearby trail and neighborhood, turning the space into a peaceful, eco-friendly retreat that enhances the property’s beauty.
