The Vision
Braeden and the team transformed an overgrown corner of the landscape into a peaceful escape with the installation of a compact Zen-inspired pond. Designed specifically as a home for aquatic plants, the mini pond brings new life to an area that had long been overlooked. Surrounded by natural stone and fresh plantings, the space now offers a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the simple beauty of water, creating a calming focal point that feels right at home in the landscape.
The Transformation
Braeden recently completed this 5-by-8 ecosystem pond in Huntersville, North Carolina, for a client who wanted a peaceful, plant-filled water garden with a calming Zen feel. Instead of focusing on fish, the design was centered around lush aquatic plants and natural textures. To keep the pond healthy and easy to maintain, Braeden installed an Aquascape BioFalls® 2500 Filter along with an Aquascape Signature Series 1000 Pond Skimmer, creating a balanced ecosystem with clear, circulating water.
One of the standout features is the stacked slate stone, which gives the pond an aged, almost ancient appearance. By adding patches of moss throughout the surrounding landscape, the team made the pond feel as though it had been there for years. The finished space is quiet, inviting, and perfectly suited for slowing down and enjoying nature.
