The Vision
This Wesley Chapel homeowner wanted a pond built right up to his foundation so he could enjoy it directly from his deck. He envisioned a connected ecosystem where a bridge would lead visitors along a stepping stone path through a stream feature with a spillway bowl. He also wanted an underground tunnel connecting the main pond to a smaller feeding area for his koi, which he calls the “Koi Cafe.”
The Transformation
We built a custom pond with a paver patio and a bridge that sits directly against the foundation for seamless deck access. The bridge leads to a stepping stone path that guides you through a connected stream feature with a spillway bowl. We installed an underground koi tunnel connecting the main pond to the smaller Koi Cafe feeding area, which contains extra food that might cause messes in the pond. The tunnel also provides protection from predators for the fish. This innovative tunnel feature has garnered over 5 million views across social media platforms and caught the attention of Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy and CEO of Aquascape, Inc., who visited personally and called it “one of the coolest pond hacks he has ever seen.” He featured it on his YouTube channel to showcase the ingenuity and craftsmanship behind the design.
